Welcome to St Mary the Virgin & All Souls, Bulwell. There has been a church building on this site since 1134 AD.

St Mary’s is the spiritual home for a loving community of people who share a faith in Jesus Christ. We try to be inclusive in everything we do, welcoming everyone regardless of race, gender or orientation.

We are what some might call “High Church” and so our choir and servers are robed and our clergy wear vestments. Incense is used occasionally. However, we are not stuffy – we like to enjoy ourselves!

On these webpages you will find information about what we enjoy and what we try - with varying degrees of success - to do well. Please use the tabs at the side of the page for more information, and please get in touch if you have any questions.

We hope you will come along and give St Mary’s a try – perhaps even join us – we look forward to welcoming you.

Andrew Fisher
God bless you,

Fr Andrew Fisher, Vicar.

Latest news from St Mary's

Our New Organist Has Started

St Mary’s, Bulwell now has a new organist to enhance our 10am Sunday Services. St Mary’s is in the Church of England high church tradition and most of our services are eucharistic with a robed choir, servers, Readers and clergy. We enjoy a range of music in our services from traditional hymns to more modern worship songs, and music from Taize and Iona.

St Mary’s is a popular venue for weddings, funerals and baptisms. We attract new and transient members who may not have much knowledge of church or church music, so we are keen for our new organist to encourage and enable our small choir and singing amongst the congregation.

The organ, which is well maintained, has three manuals with pedals and 37 speaking stops. It is regarded by many to be of cathedral standard.

We welcome Phillip Miles as our new organist. He is now at Nottingham University and had his first day with us on Sunday 22 Sept.
